-Vemork was the scene of one of the most talked about acts of sabotage during World War II, Operation Gunnerside, where Norwegian saboteurs prevented the Germans from developing nuclear weapons from the heavy water that was produced here. This is where the films and the series "Kampen om Tungtvannet" originate from. "Heroes in Telemark" is an exciting exhibition with a local feel.
